I wouldn't dream of skidding logs with a skid steer. You can't see much, and my neck couldn't take turning to look backwards all day like that. I have a farm tractor with a Farmi JL 601 winch for skidding. Are Skid Steers (like your typical Bobcat) used in forestry? If so what attachments are specifically used for logging? I would like to minimize damage to the woodlot and am thinking of some sort of trailer for forwarding logs so that I'm not skidding too far. I tried several different ways of skidding the logs both forwards and backwards. I have settled on using a chain choker attached to the arms of the grapple.
