The two choices I am down to are a New Holland LS 170 or a John Deer 250 series 2. Both seem to be very similar machines and the price is about the same. I wanted to know if anyone had any comments about the two and wich one I should lean towards. HI I am looking at buying a whole package deal from a local landscaper and he has a old john deere 90 skid steer. I know that it is a 23 hp gas motor and I have checked all the specs on it but I need to see what you guys would think it is worth. Please help.

Brought it ,000 Dec. 2000. Sell for around 9500 now. The only thing I had to do was replace the radiator and basic maintanance. Good skid steer for the $$. If I was to trade right now, New Holland LS180 would be the way I go. Lots of used ones available. Can lift a pallet of sod or bricks. Nice units. Ideally, a Cat skid steer with tracks . Do any of you have any seat time in a John Deere 328 Skidsteer. We currently own a Bobcat T-190, and are comtemplating trading it off for the 328. They have a really goo deal on a John Deere 332 CTL, but I don't know if I want to put . The 7775 JD was the same as a NH 170, those machines have the best visibility of any skid. I have been at farm shows where they had the New Holland rodeo, of course it is going to show all of NH best points but they had a line and all brands backed up until they couldn't see the line and the Nh was real close compared to all others. I have seen the old John Deere's and even with their few problems I am extremely impressed with the new 300 series Skid Steers & Compact Track Loaders. I believe John Deere has the customers best interest at hand in equipment along with quality and expense.

My john deere 240 skid steer is leaking hydraulic fluid from the bottom of the pump. When looking in from the front, the leak is on the left side of the pump. The bottom of the pump has a round recessed area about the size of a quarter or little bigger that fluid seems to come out of when the skid steer is driven.
