Our 5240 has the 2 speed, a must if you're picking up bales in the field or if your operation is spread out. They both have the arm flotation, wouldn't have one without it. The 52 with the extra counterweight can handle a pallet, the 46 not so much. BTW the 46, 48 and the 52 are the same horsepower.
Get tubes installed and fill with water to add weight to the rear. You can get weight kits that bolt to the axle tubes. If you really need to lift more, you may want to look at a bigger machine.
